Dinner Disaster, Dreary Day

by Cait on July 31, 2009

Guys – Your travel nightmare stories had me in TEARS! They were seriously so funny as I could TOTALLY relate to those same EXACT feelings! It’s always funny the next day when you reflect on a really disastrous experience, but it’s definitely not so funny when you’re going through it!!

Sorry for being such a dunce and forgetting my camera at lunch I’ve posted lunch under the “Forgetful” entry so you can officially see it now!

-

It was a later work day than I was expecting so I snacked on a Tropical Fruit Tart Larabar to get me through til dinner -

Like that background motivation??

After work I attempted to do a couple errands (all of which failed miserably) so I didn’t get home until around 8pm. I decided I just felt like taking the easy way out so I hopped right on delivery.com and promptly ordered a hummus & falafel platter from the Pita Grill.

Well – two hours later, two phone calls to the Pita Grill and hearing “he’s already on his way” later, I decided to give up. I was seriously almost in tears which I realize is a silly thing to be that upset about – but I think I was just exhausted and had a long day (and night before!) and had reached my breaking point.

At that point I wasn’t even hungry anymore, I was just so tired so I popped a bunch of dried apricots (I seriously have NO food in my house because I was on vacation) and called it a night.

Luckily I woke up to blue skies and birds chirping this morning to cheer me up!

HAHA! Nope.

It’s dark and gloomy out there and it’s making me SO miss my trip to Atlanta -

Ahh – those were the days!

I ran out this morning to grab a couple of things before the downpour started (PHEW!) and made a quick and easy breakfast of an egg white wrap with a white flesh peach on the side -

All on a nice bright plate to bring some light into this dreary day!

I just LOVE those peaches!

A big coffee is definitely in my future and I can’t wait.

Off to face the monsoon! Don’t forget your umbrellas!
-

Question of the Day:

What’s the most ridiculous food delivery experience you’ve ever had?

That wrap looks soooo good. I forget about eggs. How do I forget about eggs? I am so kooky.

I HATE it when that happens with delivery! The worst situation is when you wait forever and when you open your food you realize it’s the wrong order!! UGH.

I could not believe what it looked like outside my windows. We live close to the Hudson River with a view of Jersey and I couldn’t even see the buildings!! Gross. Where is the sunshine?

Eve – I couldn’t agree more! It’s so frustrating to get the wrong thing even when you HAVEN’T waited forever! I guess it serves us right for being lazy! Haha

My houes was once “black listed” from a pizza place, and they wouldn’t ever deliver to us anymore. One time after a night on the town, all my friends ordered 2 large pizzas to the house. When they showed up, all the toppings were wrong. We called to complain, and tell them to come give us some money back, or bring the right ones. The owner thought we were pranking them, trying to get things for free, and we were black listed from the best pizza in town!

I’m one of those people who never have food delivered. I honestly can’t remember the last time I ordered in! If I do order out I always go pick it up. Weird, huh? It was a pretty morning here in Boston but now the rain is moving in…UGH!

It’s pouring/thundering in Atlanta today, too! When I look out my office window, all I see is a monsoon!

I’ve actually (this is embarassing) never had food delivered… it’s just not that common down here! I see people getting pizza delivered, but other that, I think delivery services are more of NY/NJ thing.

Sorry to hear about your delivery disaster, though… so frustrating!

Laura – Yeah I definitely think it’s more usual in a city setting. I grew up in Connecticut and didn’t really even know what delivery WAS until I went to college in Boston! So weird! My sister told me the weather there is terrible as well. She’s actually trying to fly up here now and can’t manage to get out! WHERE IS SUMMER!?
