Gets Better Every Time

by Cait on September 28, 2011

I haven’t had my favorite sandwich in what feels like SUCH a long time so I immediately knew what I was having today when going to pack my lunch last night!

Veggie and hummus on Trader Joe’s Tuscan Whole Wheat Bread (toasted obviously).

Just never gets old.  In fact, I think it gets better every time I have it!

Simply paird (or…pear’d) with a pear

A perfect mid-day meal.

Do you have a go-to (or a few) breakfasts, lunches or dinners?  I find I definitely like my staple foods and just try to mix it up among them (I don’t always do the best job of this, haha).

But really – when that’s staring at you from inside your fridge, how can you ever say no??

Yum. Sounds like a fantastic sandwich to me. You reminded me that I need to make some hummus now.

Haha yay!! That reminds me that I need to make my OWN hummus. This was Trader Joe’s (which I LOVE) but nothing beats homemade!

That sandwich looks great! I can never figure out what to bring for lunch everyday. A veggies and humus sandwich sounds like the perfect sandwich!

This looks perfect! My go to is a salad with an over easy egg on top. I like to think it gives my perfect nutrient balance…and it’s delicious!

I love adding hard boiled eggs to salad myself…eggs really make the perfect compliment to salads!

That tuscan bread blows my mind. I am OBSESSED with it as a grilled pimento cheese and tomato soup!!

I’m DYING to make a grilled cheese with this!!! That sounds awesome and I definitely need to make that happen in the very near future!

I eat the same breakfast pretty much every day. And I’m totally ok with it!

Hahaha – that’s how I am! It takes a lot for me to get sick of things!

Jessica @ Sushi & Sit-Ups September 28, 2011

I pretty much eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch during the workweek. It’s just easier and I know exactly what I need to buy at the grocery store each weekend.

Haha yes! Exactly!!

I eat a similar sandwich, but in wrap form. I don’t know why I didn’t start putting hummus in sandwiches until recently because it is fantastic in there!

It really is!! I never used to do it either but I’m definitely glad I started!

I’m in such a rut lately…smoothie breakfast, salad lunch, homemade pizza dinner. It’s hard to mix things up when they’re just so dang good!

Reply

Mike September 28, 2011

funny you say that… not to spoil the Cait’s Plate dinner post, but you might be on to something there ;)

Reply

Katie September 28, 2011

I’m never surprised when Cait has pizza for dinner. Let me guess…a salad on the side?

Way to give away my secrets Mike! GOSH! Haha

Cait's Plate September 28, 2011

You’re totally allowed to be in a rut – you have a little Babycakes that takes up all your time and attention. If I had her to pay attention to every day I would live off spoonfuls of peanut butter and call it a day :)

Reply

Katie September 28, 2011

True! But I also don’t have a JOB…so, in theory, I should be whipping up creativity in the kitchen at every meal. But spoonfuls of peanut butter are always a good option, too.

Reply

Cait's Plate September 28, 2011

Haha oh please – jobs are totally overrated. I’d argue that taking care of Baby A is a job in and of itself. :)

Reply

Katie September 28, 2011

Ok fine…I’ll call it a job. That way I can just stay in my food rut and no one can get bored with it. ;-)

Reply

Cait's Plate September 28, 2011

Haha exactly!! But I never think you’re in a food rut. I’m pretty much jealous of every meal you post :)

Reply

Katie September 28, 2011

Well, they can get bored…but at least I have an excuse.

I love hummus on sandwiches. I need to pick up some carrots and try it with it them though, usually I just stick to cucumbers!

Reply

Cait's Plate September 28, 2011

I LOVE the hummus and carrot combo – highly recommend it! Cucumbers PLUS carrots and hummus is really the way to go :)

Mmm that looks good! I meant to go to Trader Joes last weekend but never got around to it. Their hummus is soooo amazing. Plus I just bought a bag of pita chips so I really need some! Unfortunately the closest one is a half hour away.

Reply

Cait's Plate September 28, 2011

I agree! Their hummus is the BEST! Ours is not very close (we live in NJ and it’s in the city) but it’s SO worth the trip!
